Palembang, June 12, 2025 — The Faculty of Sharia and Law at Raden Fatah State Islamic University (UIN) Palembang successfully held an International Seminar and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Sharia Economic Law Amidst the Globalization of Capitalism” on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The event was conducted in a hybrid format and attended by academics, legal practitioners, students, and delegates from various countries, including Turkey. It took place in the Munaqosyah Room, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Sharia and Law, UIN Raden Fatah Palembang.
The seminar featured several prominent speakers, including Prof. Dr. H. Cholidi, Prof. Dr. Muh. Salahuddin, M.Ag., M.Pd., and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Mohamed Mansour. They explored various challenges and opportunities in the application of Sharia economic law amid the dominance of the global capitalist system.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, Dr. H. Muhamad Harun, M.Ag., stated that the FGD aimed to raise global awareness of the importance of a fair and sustainable economic system, emphasizing that Sharia economic law is not only relevant but also offers viable solutions to crises caused by extreme capitalism.
“Amid the tide of globalization and the dominance of capitalism, Sharia economic law emerges as an alternative that prioritizes justice, ethics, and balance in economic activities,” he said.

The event concluded with the establishment of inter-university research collaborations aimed at strengthening the study and implementation of Sharia economic law on an international scale.
Through this forum, participants expressed hope that Sharia economic law can be part of the global solution to economic disparities and crises, while also promoting the values of justice and sustainability in global economic governance.
